Conversations with Concrete (Cathy Hsiao)

Unwanted concrete sculpture (encased in glass), post-consumer foam, cinder blocks_7.5" x 7.5" x 12” (approx)_2017

"Conversations with Concrete (Cathy Hsiao)" is part of a larger series titled  “Sculpture from Other Sculptor’s Sculptures,”  an expanding group of works in which unwanted sculptures from other artists are recovered and transformed. The original work, a concrete dye basin, was broken into rubble. These fragments were encased in molten glass, whereby they were encouraged to "speak" through their off-gas in the form of bubbles.
