Bulges (Alicia Everett)

Four unwanted ceramic sculptures by artist Alicia Everett (tumbled)_72” x 72” x 2”_2016

"Bulges (Alicia Everett)" is part of a series titled “Sculpture From Other Sculptors’ Sculptures” series, an expanding group of works in which the unwanted sculpture of other sculptors is transformed into new work. Alicia’s four unwanted ceramic sculptures were created by ‘squishing together’ clay balls without scoring or using slip to connect them. This production tactic led the clay balls to break apart easily where they were originally joined. The fragments were then tumbled in a rock tumbler and arranged on the floor in a single circular formation. The sculpture is tumbled again before each time it is displayed, causing the work to shrink incrementally, until it eventually disappears.
