Original Simulations are acrylic paintings that take prints of amateur paintings as their subject matter. These printed paintings were chosen for the unique brushstroke texture adhered to their surface to simulate the effect of a ‘real painting’: a texture of patterned brushstrokes uniformly adhered such that none of the ‘brushstrokes’ actually follow the strokes of the original painter. Original Simulations are handmade, archival paintings loosely replicating the original work, finished by re-simulating a brushstroke texture on their surfaces in acrylic medium.
