Potsherds
Tumbled ceramic sherds
49.84 cubic centimetres
2014-Ongoing
Potsherds is an ongoing, process-driven project begun in 2014, centred on the collecting, cataloguing, and rock-tumbling of broken ceramic fragments encountered in the artist’s daily life. To date, the work comprises 49.84 cubic centimetres of processed ceramic material. Envisioned as a lifelong undertaking, Potsherds will ultimately culminate in the artist’s burial.
Potsherds (Ísland) was an early iteration of what would later evolve into the singular, lifelong project Potsherds. Created during a residency with SíM, the work consisted of temporary installation pieces made from tumbled second-hand toilet fragments. These ceramic sherds were distributed across various iconic locations in Iceland as part of an exhibition for HAUNT Gallery, Vancouver, and the project was announced through postcards mailed to potential viewers. Curated by Lucien Durey.
